In The Body is No More Than a Greening Thing, Louisa Muniz digs into the garden bed of memory, loss, and resilience. These poems praise the body’s fleeting nature and deep-rootedness to the earth, evoking a profound sense of connection, even when God has seemingly disappeared. From elegies to invocations, Muniz’s lyrical voice invites us to hold grief and joy in both hands, then plant ourselves into the soil. Our bodies may be “mortgaged to summer,” but our souls persist. A beautiful collection.
