Darlene Pagán teaches creative writing and literature at Pacific University in Oregon. Some of her favorite courses are politics and the novel, poetry, and a course she has forthcoming called Literature of the Undead. She has a chapbook of poems, Blue Ghosts (Finishing Line Press), and a full-length collection forthcoming October 1st, 2015 from Airlie Press called Setting the Fires. Her poems have appeared in Field, Calyx, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Poet Lore, Hiram Poetry Review, and Hawaii Pacific Review, among others. Her essays have appeared in venues such as Memoir(and), Brevity, The Nebraska Review, and Literal Latté. Outside of her obsessions with fire and ghosts, she is working on an illustrated memoir project that details the challenges of motherhood, especially around the time when both of her young sons were diagnosed with special needs. She enjoys hiking, swimming, the beach, the rain, the early hours of the morning, and roller coasters.
