Bodies of Evidence by Michael Wynn

Each of these poems presents its own body of evidence. Each makes evident the humility, wisdom, and compassion of its maker. Each exists as irrefutable testimony to Michael Wynn’s talent for subtle musical devices, for consistent line integrity, for indelible images. In his work, we embrace microcosm and macrocosm, a vastness so particular that “Everything is theoretical, up for grabs.” Both precise and sensual, these are poems whose words we’ll remember, “…how they burned like stars.”

–Paulann Petersen, Oregon Poet Laureate Emerita

“Reading Michael Wynn is like meeting a friend at the trailhead knowing you have an hour walk to the ocean. His poems are thoughtful and conversational, concerned with what we are and how we live. There is a sensitive consideration to line and stanza. Wynn’s is a quiet clear voice easily heard in the wilderness as well as in hospitals or at gas stations, anywhere where we can be overwhelmed and need a little stabilizing wisdom whispered in our ears.”

–Carl Adamschick, Winnner 2010 Walt Whitman Prize
