Cannon Mine by Mary Crosby

$14.99

Poet Ezra Pound defined poetry as “news that stays news.” Mary Crosby’s “Cannon Mine” poems deliver on that decree with deftness and heart. Whether by bearing witness to what was forged when the reckless forces of industry bore down on a landscape and its indigenous people, or else through the personal lyric, Crosby’s poems are crafted with the heat of precision and careful poetic skill. Her poems are testaments to what was once buried in this land, coming up as it is now through the sludge, the leaden muck once dumped in those abandoned north Jersey mines. The poems of “Cannon Mine” are deeply scored, clear-eyed, and wise.
