What comes after the coming-of-age?
Galaxies and Storms and Airways Above Her is an exploration of the self and other, the self and lineage, and the self as other. Drawing on the teachings of multiple lineages, poet Kwame Sound Daniels weaves a tale of discovery and home from the perspective of a wanderer descended from a sapphic and nomadic alien race. Throughout a narrative in free verse, the central figure Allerlei cycles through familiar and unfamiliar places in a search for meaning among various loves for people, place, and memory.
Kwame Sound Daniels is an afro-indigenous dyke poet based out of Maryland. They hold a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and hold a degree in the culinary arts. You can find Kwame’s works in The Slowdown, Poet Lore, Sinister Wisdom, and Bellevue Literary Magazine, and other writings on their website. Their first and second collections of poetry (Light Spun from Perennial Press and The Pause and the Breath from Atmosphere Press) were published in 2022 and 2023 respectively. They like to practice divination, paint, and make potions in their spare time.
