Jean B. Fleischauer was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, taught fourth grade for three years and then attended Pennsylvania State University to gain certification as a school psychologist. She worked as a school psychologist in the Pittsburgh Schools until she retired in 1993.  She retired early to care for her husband and to explore her interests in pottery, poetry, prose, and watercolor.  Home Is Not Lost  is her first publication.
