Injury by Maggie Hellwig

“Hellwig fantastically creates natural worlds through which the reader can enter the scars themselves. Even the briefest of encounters between human and animal is purposeful. The scars are an imprint of understanding and how much tension there is in the act.”
–Suman Chhabra, author of Demons Off and Assistant Professor, Adj. School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
“Her writing unfolds before you, seeking the perspectives of animals, but ultimately leading us back to ourselves.”
–Aubrey Snowden, Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Dramatic Arts here at UNC, Chapel Hill.
“Maggie’s work is so fine…her use of image juxtaposed with a strong sense of language is always interesting to me.”
–Richard O’Reilly, Associate Professor of Writing, Adj. School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
