Into the Green is about migrations, large and small, hemisphere to hemisphere. The poems also explore the migrations within the hemispheres, islands, homes, ponds and beaches. In the Southern Hemisphere moving are sea turtles, the Southern Cross, flying foxes, strangler fig vines, typhoons, fireflies, and albatross patrolling the crosswinds. In the Northern Hemisphere, in motion are the heartbeat of a vole underground, geese flowing in a river of sky, Coho, sound of frogs and wings, and small birds and lost dreams. The poems, combining the celebratory with the heartbreaking, tells us how “…we are all connected/ wing to heart/ leaf to root,/ predator to prey…”

–Ann Spiers, author of Bunker Trail
