Life not quite Understood by Lynnie Gobeille

$14.00

In this stunning debut collection, Lynnie Gobeille writes with the tangible honesty and unbridled courage of a seasoned poet. She strings haiku like strands of jewels, each one complete in and of itself, yet connected to the whole—much like humanity. Shards of sea glass are named, and out of this brokenness, hope emerges, as we “share every drop/water gardens with what’s left.” As we journey through the ocean of loss and joy, readers experience not an acceptance of (as the title may suggest), but a reverence for Life not quite Understood.

–Heather Sullivan, author of These Onyx Hours

Lynnie Gobeille writes from deep inside herself, a place of freshening sea winds and still wild hope mixed with the wisdom that comes from acceptance as we bumble through our days.
Life not quite Understood is a phrase which precisely describes us all, even those who claim otherwise. These poems are the flags of little truths we hold but rarely see painted so carefully.
This is Lynnie’s special gift: Long may she wave.

–Tom Chandler, Poet laureate of Rhode Island Emeritus

One of the poems in this collection ends with a comma. It’s not a typo; it’s a sign of just how much this poet believes, as is apparent everywhere in this book, in hope. Something will follow. Lynnie Gobeille helps us to believe that and, even, understand.

–James Penha, Editor, New Verse News

Lynnie Gobeille writes in the way leaves unfurl on a branch – toward the light. She paints the space between relationships with colored words; each with shadows of their own. This collection is an invitation to share her company and “know the grace of love.”

For those of you who are wondering what the book is all about here’s the basics:
I took these ingredients: my 47 moves**, 32 lovers,** 4 husbands**, 7 pets, my love of music & lyrics (Leonard Cohen’s, Joni Mitchell’s, Greg Brown’s to name a few) added in some thoughts on anorexia and bulimia, body image & all those things that haunt us when we look in a mirror, tossed in some love & lust; joy & sorrow…
and sprinkled in a pinch of loss, those moments when a friendship dies… a lover leaves… the kind of loss we feel when death comes into our world & our hearts break open. Oh and in the end? I added a dash of hope.
(PS: Please note that poets/writers have been known to embellish a ‘tad. **)
