Review of Reading: “Maija Devine’s January 2013 reading at The Writers Place, in Kansas City, MO, was one of the best . . . . she was concise and utterly compelling, . . . her commentary, humorous and enlightening. Her great theme, Korean culture and history, makes for worthy and interesting presentation.”

Maija Rhee Devine‘s poems contrast Asia against the US: China and Korea vs. Missouri and Wal-Mart. Her exquisite imagery . . . amplifies national and cultural oppositions. She counterpoises . . . tight haiku alongside rangy villanelles Devine’s book is indeed an auspicious poetic debut.”
