Maureen Doyle McQuerry writes books on the borders of myth and magical realism for young adults that explore questions of identity, redemption and resilience. Her YA novel, The Peculiars(Abrams/Amulet 2012) was an ALA Best Book for Young Adult Readers 2013, Bank Street and Horne Book recommended book, and the Westchester Award winner. Beyond the Door (Abrams/Amulet) the first in the Time Out of Time duet, is a Booklist top Ten Fantasy/SciFi for Youth. She has taught middle school through college with a specialty in gifted education. She is also a poet, winner of the New Eden Chapbook award for her collection Relentless Light and is published in The Southern Review, Smartish Pace, and Georgetown Review among other journals. She lives in Washington State.
