Rough Hymns by Kathleen Kilcup

“The most moving poems inhabit our lives like a weight upon the chest, a beloved in our bed, a demon transformed into birds. So it is with the poems of Kathleen Kilcup, a poet who walks that thin line between bitter knowledge and laborious hope, denying neither its worth. Rough Hymns is a book that arrests us, transfigures us, and will not let us go.”
–Katie Ford, author of Blood Lyrics

Kathleen Kilcup has a rare ear, a keen mind, and a vivid spirit.  Like the faith that is her chief subject, her poems cut and console in equal measure.  This is a beautiful little book.”

–Christian Wiman, author of Once in the West
