Send Me a Light by Julia Gregg

$21.99

Send Me A Light is an unsparing memoir of grief told in 33 poems that read like prayers for a son who “had such a light.” In this tender, holy journey lit by stars, Julia speaks to the incredible strength of a mother’s bond, a mother searching to harbor her heartbreaking grief. You will underline and love this book for years.

–Margaret McMullan, Where the Angels Lived

Julia Gregg’s new book of poetry, Send Me a Light, is the story of her grief’s transformation, told delicately yet with immense, hard-won precision. In the first poem, “Send Me a Light,” she gives a hint of her journey’s goal when she writes,”—that I can find my way and won’t be lost.” As we continue reading, we see—and feel—bits of hope push up through the heavy concrete of her grief, small flowers or grasses surviving in the harshest conditions. Gregg is a beautiful poet, and her struggle to describe her path into and through will offer solace and hope to others grieving their own terrible losses.

–Barbara Stahura, After Brain Injury: Telling Your Story

Anyone who has known great loss will catch on each compelling word of Julia Gregg’s emotional, deep, and thought-provoking poems. Her voice, throughout, shows the growth that comes through loss, grief and survival. These searing and heartfelt poems you will not soon forget.
