Souvenirs by Dee Matthews celebrates survival: “My father wanted boys; needed help on the farm. / First one, girl; second one, boy. / Third, fourth, fifth and sixth-all girls.” / No matter, we were expected to work like boys. / We shoveled shit with the best of them.” Dee Matthews writes with fierce honesty and brilliant beauty.
