In “Tapestry of Secrets, Dr. Carol Aronoff masterfully weaves her own tapestry of heritage, a persecuted faith, family, and mysticism in a way that draws the reader in close, as if sharing a deep secret and witnessing the sacred in a familiar way. Her use of vibrant imagery splashed across the backdrop of her Abuelo and Abuelita’s faith and practice creates a mood of contemplation and admiration, as if one can tiptoe in and silently witness an unfolding of faith, a blossoming of beauty. There is both agony and beauty at the price of sacrifice and deep devotion. Geographically, Aronoff’s poems span time and space, taking the reader to a myriad of beautiful places and moments in time. This is a fantastically rich read, and one you will contemplate for many moments upon closing the book.
