The Art & the Wait by Terri McCord
$14.00
THE ART AND THE WAIT is Terri McCord’s first published collection, and it is certainly worth the wait. These poems are crafted with delicacy and discipline, moving a reader from a sense of recognition to sheer astonishment as the poems close with images that are haunting and telling at the same time. This is a poet to watch.
–Phebe Davidson, Reviews Editor, Yemassee, Staff Writer, Asheville Poetry Review
You will feel the mind moving between memory and anticipation, as if the present moment so far surpasses fact. In The Art and the Wait, objects and interactions are not what they seem, but rather are beautifully suspended so that observations take surprising turns and unanticipated paths. McCord’s writing is tender, willing to struggle, true to real life: “We would be/safer if now never/unfurled.”
–Sally Keith, winner of The Colorado Prize for Design
Terri McCord’s debut, chapbook, The Art and the Wait, is both an unblinking look at the world before our eyes and a glimpse into the unseen worlds of myth, dream, and dark enchantment.
