Constance Alexander won a poetry contest in fourth grade and has been writing ever since. An award-winning playwright, poet, essayist, independent producer, and civic journalist, she served as artistic director of the West Kentucky Playwrights Festival for eight years. Her published works include several plays, five books of poetry, and a memoir. Her work has been supported by numerous grants and fellowships that reflect the range of her creative activity and focus on issues of aging, end of life issues, accessibility, cancer, women’s health, and care giving. A New Jersey native, she lives in Murray, Kentucky, with her husband, artist and coffin maker Roy Davis.
