Join Meredith Heller in a vibrant love affair with the Yuba River. Heller dives all the way in, allowing the power of the river to transform her and inspire lush poems of passage and passion. Visit an enlivening, enchanted world where “crickets gossip” and “dragonflies tilt the horizon.” Here Heller “tunes her compass to a new wilderness/ where each moment sings.” Basking on the banks with Heller you will hear “star animals turn/on their dark carousel/cranking the night music.” At home in a rock nook you will conjure atonement with Heller where “the moon will make her honey/in the dark/from your mistakes.”

–Susan Wooldridge, Author of poemcrazy: freeing your life with words

What Dali did with paint Heller does with words. Let her take you by the eye, ear, tongue, nose, hand or heart to daringly be introduced to the Earth, her elements, and elementals for the first time… “tilting the horizon/rocks taking off their stone masks/unfolding their limbs/stretching their gray bodies into the water/and watching me with their creature eyes.” Unlike any midwife to come before, she will help you birth your consciousness of nature. She will awaken you from your dream just to find yourself in a new one, filled with spectacular wonder. These days while most people are falling down rabbit holes, Heller is your essential guide out of any despondent abyss. Follow her if you want your senses awakened, your soul touched. Better yet, chase her deep into the wood…now!
