Submissions

FLP is an award-winning small press publisher and a proud member of the Community of Literary Magazines & Presses (CLMP). 

We are home to several prestigious competitions and programs that celebrate emerging and established voices, including: 

  • New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition
  • Open Chapbook Competition
  • The Donna Wolf-Palacio Poetry Prize (formerly the Starting Gate Award)
  • Ritzenhein Emerging Poet Award (awarded by committee)
  • One Last Word Program (awarded by committee)

Submission Guidelines

FLP is a traditional publisher. We pay royalties to authors, and there is no fee for submissions. 

Our books are distributed nationally and internationally through the Ingram Group.

Postal Submissions

If submitting by mail, please include: 

  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) with correct postage for any kind of response, even if you do not wish your material to be returned.
  • A photocopy or computer printout of your manuscript — do not send originals.

Important Notes

  • FLP is not responsible for lost manuscripts submitted by mail.
  • All submissions are selected through an editorial review process.
  • Response times average between 3 and 6 months.
