DIY Marketing for Small Press and Indie Authors: No Publicist? No Problem

While the “Big Five” count on extensive teams to market books, small presses and indie authors are usually on their own. How can an author get the word out with little marketing experience and no budget? Panelists will show what works to generate visibility and sales at low cost. We’ll cover readings, interviews, blogs, book clubs, social platforms, book reviews, and getting books into stores, libraries, and classrooms. Panelists are publishers and authors with successful marketing strategies.

October 16-18 Court Days in Mt. Sterling, KY Three days to trade, play, buy, and eat in charming Mt. Sterling where authors, including Bill McCann and his books God Hires Gardeners and The New Adventures of Jesus can be found. Mt. Sterling is off I-64 at exit 110. Head into town. Authors’ Alley is located near the Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Mt. Sterling, just a couple of miles or so from the Interstate. Come for a memorable stay to read, play, and buy . . . Books, books, and more things than your imagination can conceive of. But the books are best!
 
October 24– Winchester Book Fair located at First Christian Church 24 East Hickman Street featuring up to 25 local and regional authors. Running from 10 am to 5 pm in the church’s Fellowship Hall the authors will be set up with books for sale. And each hour five different authors will each read from their books during an Open Mic period. Also available will be hot dogs and drinks, as a church fundraiser.
