Elizabeth Levett Fortier is a teacher, writer, visual artist, and songwriter living in San Francisco with her husband and two excellent cats. She works with young writers in the Bay Area Writing Project’s youth program.
“Elizabeth’s poetry takes the reader through a descriptive wonderland of vivid imagery. We are brought to moments and then fully immersed in the, from the slow baptism of a cold plunge to a child’s free spirit held up by the safety of a father’s love and care. This is a work deeply soulful and joyful.”
–Marna Blanchard, UC Berkeley, Bay Area Writing Project.
“Rain Barrel is a love song to the beauty that exists in the everyday world. In these poems, the child we once were swims inside us, feral cats teach us about love, and deceased friends keep us company every spring. Truly capacious work.”
–Christopher P. DeLorenzo, MFA, Adjunct professor, University of San Francisco
