The People Between by Jacob Minasian

In this sequel to Jacob Minasian‘s riveting and devastating The Places Between, we return to the near-future world blanketed by catastrophic weather events. The People Between picks up five years after the events of the first book, following both new and familiar characters as they use the Automated Radio Weather System to navigate a planet still deadly but healing, where extended clear zone durations have allowed society to begin rebuilding. With small communities forming and the threat of weather events easing, will humanity get a second chance, or will the nature of humanity become more dangerous than the power of Mother Nature herself?

With searing prose, Minasian doesn’t hold back in his harrowing exploration of both the valiant good and the horrific evil persisting in a post-apocalyptic landscape.

Jacob Minasian received his MFA from Saint Mary’s College of California, where he was the 2016 Academy of American Poets prize-winner.  He is the author of the novella The Places Between (2024), the full-length poetry collection Vestiges (2023), and the poetry chapbook American Lit (2020), and his work has appeared in publications including, among others, Poets.org, Mystery Tribune, The Museum of Americana, RipRap Literary Journal, Lucky Jefferson, Windows Facing Windows Review, CP Quarterly, Red Ogre Review, multiple anthologies, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.  Originally from California, he currently lives with his wife and daughter in Cincinnati, Ohio.
