A former curator of historic maps at Princeton University Library, John Delaney has been writing poems for most of his adult life. His publications include Waypoints (2017), Twenty Questions (2019), Filing Order: Sonnets (2025), and CATechisms (2025), poems and photographs about his senior cat. In addition, he’s published a number of “poetic travel guides” (poems with color photographs) based on his trips, often preferring remote, natural settings: Delicate Arch: Poems and Photographs of National Parks and Monuments (2022), Galápagos (2023), consisting of his son’s color photographs and his poetic responses, Nile (2024) about Egypt, Morocco (2026), and Gobi Dream (2026) about Mongolia. He makes his home in Port Townsend, WA.
PRAISE:
A wonderful collection that captures the spirit of The Way. John’s poems rise from the road. They speak of departure and arrival, solitude and companionship, thresholds crossed, “tantalizing trails of transgression” and the luminous nature of the ordinary. Camino Days is a love song to pilgrimage.
—Stephanie Dale, founder of Writing for the Brave and the annual Walk & Write Camino
