PRAISE:
“These poems feel like an ode to life and light. Klauber’s scope is both epic and intimate: from sky and birdcall to the veins and blood under our skin. What a gift this collection is, for its articulation of illness and chronic pain, for showing us what love and care look like, for facing the darkness and the beauty with equal, tender measure. Klauber has an uncanny skill of making the natural world our own. This collection is a moving, sophisticated exploration of illness as well as a reminder to keep watching for wonder.
—Katherine Brabon, author of Body Friend
“In Jellyfish and Grit, Maya Klauber offers us a generous and imploring window into a life with chronic illness. Within poems both plainspoken and compassionate, we’re allowed to sit beside her on the good days and bad ones, and with all the specific uncertainties that happen in between. These poems declare that while some of us live quietly with invisible pain the rest of us will forever fail to understand, what we all still share is this strange and beautiful world.”
—Elly Bookman, author of Love Sick Century
