PRAISE:
Small Exchanges by Sam F. Johnson is a quietly expansive collection of poems that transforms the ordinary into something revelatory. With clarity, wit, and deep attention, these poems move through gardens, birds, caregiving, books, and the small moments that shape a life. In place of easy answers, Johnson offers insight, surprise, and a powerful sense that meaning often arrives in passing—in the brief exchange, the overheard phrase, the glance, the detail that lingers. These poems remind us that the smallest encounters can leave the deepest impression.
