The Dreamed-Of Other tells the story of a seventy-five-year love affair and marriage—and what came after. In poems of varied styles and voices, physicist-turned-poet Morrel Cohen explores his love for Sylvia, his wife who died in spring 2024. Poems home in on highlights of their long relationship—their meeting as students, the small and joyous wedding, their travels with their children, Sylvia’s decline and death—and Morrel’s journey through grief. From their meeting as students working a crossword together to the poet’s creating a new life warmed by her memory, these poems explore life with and after the dreamed-of other. #poetry #book
